Before picking up your new laptop, you will need to back up all your personal files.  Once this has been completed, you can schedule a time to receive your laptop and be onboarded.  This is a great time to look over all the files you have and determine which ones you want to keep as well as perform some filing into folder if you like.

You may Need:

• A large USB thumb drive or external hard drive

Add the steps involved:

1. Insert the USB or external hard drive into the current Laptop
2. Copy over files you have created or stored on the laptop.  You may want to open your user folder and check for files in:
   1. Desktop
   2. Documents
   3. Downloads
   4. Music
   5. Pictures

Remember to copy the files, not the shortcuts.  You can tell a shortcut as it has a small arrow in the bottom left of the icon.
