Adding a Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator App
The following article goes over what a passkey is and instructions on how to set one up in the Microsoft Authenticator app.
What is a Passkey?
Passkeys are a replacement for your password. With passkeys, you can sign into your Microsoft personal account or your work/school account using your face, fingerprint, or PIN. Signing in with a passkey is simple and fast and helps protect you against phishing attacks.
Passkeys are supported on desktop and mobile browsers (mobile app support is coming soon). You can use Windows Hello on Windows 10/11 devices to sign into your account with a passkey.
Instructions
Step 1. Download and open the Microsoft Authentication App
Please download and open the Microsoft Authentication App before you continue with the rest of the steps.
Step 2. Add your Passkey to your PCCC Account
On your desktop, visit My Sign-Ins
On the “Security Info” page, click Add sign-in method.
Under “Add a Sign-in Method”, select Passkey in Microsoft Authenticator.
You may be asked to sign-in with another method of two-factor authentication before you can continue with setting up the passkey, so please do so after clicking Sign-in.
After verifying with two-factor authentication, please read and take note of the information shown in the “Create your passkey in Microsoft Authenticator” section. Then click Next.
Follow the “Complete the setup in Microsoft Authenticator” steps shown in the next screen withing the Microsoft Authenticator App. When you have finished following the steps, click Next.
